A Kiss that Cured the Past

Infidelity has become a pleasant norm to a lot of people, and it's honestly disheartening to gaze upon that reality. Frank McCarthy met Cynthia in college, and the two grew fond of each other thereafter. Cynthia was a very delightful lady, though she had flaws of her own. Moreover, she was studying to become a high school teacher, while Frank was studying to become a psychologist.

They seemed to be truly in love, I daresay. Two years after their graduation, they got married and both their families wilfully approved of their companionship since they were adamant that the two were suitable for each other, but Cynthia’s family was oddly eager. Frank McCarthy was a man of his word but he wasn't always like that, for he was initially a disloyal person when it came to dating. However, he immediately disowned that habit after one incident that  severely broke him.

He was always unwilling to talk about it, but rumor has it that he once broke some lady's heart by fornicating and it resulted with her getting a severe heart attack. Frank had tried multiple times to make amends but the lady could not overlook the pain he had caused her.

It's also unfortunate that an innocent person had to fall prey to pain before Frank McCarthy could devotedly change his ways, but it's a good thing that he learnt from his deeds.

Cynthia McCarthy immediately fell pregnant after getting married to Frank and to their surprise, she was pregnant with twins but fortunately, both Frank and Cynthia were stable financially and they also had the support of their families. Frank was very happy about the pregnancy of his wife, he was earnestly looking forward to becoming a father.

Cynthia on the other hand didn't come across as someone who shared the sentiment with her husband, she was rather uncomfortable about the pregnancy.

Yet, she did her utmost to disguise her discomfort, but as months went by, guilt terrorised her without compassion and she could no longer withstand that burden. She thus decided to confess to her husband before giving birth. Apparently, she had had relations with another man while engaged to Frank McCarthy, so that made it impossible for her to be fully certain if Frank was the actual father.

Frank was hurt and paralyzed by the confession made by his wife, let alone being confused. For at first he felt as though he was dreaming and that someone would soon wake him up and readily liberate him from his nightmare, but as Cynthia furthered her explanation, Frank realised more and more that the matter at hand wasn't a dream, but rather, his actuality.

Cynthia had an addiction and it was very severe, what's more, that very addiction was a man named George, he drove her crazy, and her parents resented that because it was unhealthy, for she had done a lot of unintelligible things merely to please George, a painful misfortune no parent wants for their child.

George was Cynthia's first boyfriend, but he never really loved her, he just enjoyed seeing her going the whole nine yards merely for his approval. Frank McCarthy was dismayed by the discovery at hand but it also made him understand just how agonizing it is to be betrayed by someone you've vowed to love.

Being a knowledgeable psychologist helped him to contain his wrath but he pleaded that they separate until Cynthia gives birth. Thereafter, they got the DNA test done, and sadly, the kids were not his. Frank and Cynthia had a house in Cape Town, it was very beautiful and suitable for a young couple, but after confirming everything, they got divorced and Frank relocated to Johannesburg, for he believed that doing so would help him let bygones be bygones and it did, yet it took him an approximate of five years.

It wasn't an easy journey, for he even had depression, but he chose to be resilient and grabbed the bull by its horns. Fortunately, his parents were there to support him and that really helped him a lot.

Despite being betrayed, Frank hadn't given up on love, though the thought of everything that had happened incited fear in him but he wasn't going to allow that fear to lead him astray.

He was no longer practicing as a psychologist, for upon setting foot in Johannesburg, he decided to try something new, perhaps he believed doing that would help him forget about his ex-wife and somehow rid off his anguish, and frankly speaking, it slightly did.

Frank McCarthy decided to establish a fast food restaurant in Maboneng, a blissful location situated in the depths of Johannesburg. There were many other restaurants nearby but he was doing well despite the competition, for his restaurant specialised with a famous South African cuisine known as “Kota” and it was relished by many people.

One day he stumbled upon a beautiful lady named Jasmine Scott, she lived around Maboneng, and Frank could neither overlook nor dismiss his unhindered regards for her. Something he adamantly believed would never happen again, especially since his marriage with Cynthia ended in misfortune.

Jasmine Scott was an attorney and she was very good at her job, she was also single and not because she was not proposed by men, but merely because she was not appeased by every romantic wording that came her way.

Frank McCarthy often saw Jasmine on weekdays, but he was always troubled by fear, he longed to talk to her but he was afraid to make the first move, I suppose Jasmine Scott was that intimidating. He eventually decided to go against the grain and made his move and to the latter, Jasmine reacted in a fair-mannered way.

They became good friends, at least for several months, Frank told Jasmine about his previous marriage and the result it imposed upon him, but he did not speak ill of his ex-wife, he also told Jasmine about his past mistakes and how regretful he was. Jasmine also entrusted herself to Frank but she was a bit sceptical after hearing about the kind of person Frank was, though she believed in the concept of giving people a second chance.

They eventually became lovers, and upon their first kiss, everything that often rained on Frank McCarthy’s parade disappeared, such as his fear for commitment and getting married again. They got married and eventually had kids of their own.
